The Provincial Government of South Kalimantan, through the Youth and Sports Department (Dispora), is finalizing plans to host a sports festival featuring three competitive sports. This event is specifically held to enliven the commemoration of the South Kalimantan Province's Anniversary while also serving as a stage for local athletes to showcase their skills.
The three sports confirmed to feature in this festival are boxing, sambo, and diving. The organization of this event also serves as a benchmark for athlete development, which has been ongoing under the auspices of Dispora Kalsel.
The Head of Dispora South Kalimantan, Pebriadin Hafiz, explained that the committee is currently still aligning the technical implementation concept of the activities. Dispora is examining whether the competitions for the three sports will be held simultaneously or scheduled alternately.
Regarding match technicalities, boxing is still awaiting final confirmation from the branch management. Meanwhile, the sambo sport is planned to synergize with the inauguration of the relevant organization's new management. On the other hand, the venue for the diving competition is confirmed to take place at the SKB Mulawarman Swimming Pool, Banjarmasin.
Through this event, Dispora Kalsel hopes that the local competition atmosphere can boost the athletes' competitive motivation to achieve at higher levels, while also strengthening the foundation of sustainable sports development in the region.
