The East Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kaltim) intensified the war on drug trafficking by conducting raids at several nightlife venues (THM) in Balikpapan. The operation, which took place in the early hours of Sunday (26/7/2026), is part of the implementation of Operation Antik Mahakam 2026 to restrict the space for illicit substance abuse in the region.
This security enforcement raid began with a readiness briefing led directly by the Director of Drug Investigation at Polda Kaltim, Police Commissioner Romylus Tamtelahitu, accompanied by the Head of Operations of Antik Mahakam 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Fauzi Akhmad. To maximize supervision and law enforcement on the ground, joint personnel from Polda Kaltim also synergized with Military Police (PM) units.
After consolidation, officers moved to sweep two targeted nightlife venues. At these locations, officers checked the identities of both visitors and employees and conducted urine tests for early detection. During this intensive inspection, police detained a visitor suspected of carrying substances believed to be ecstasy for further investigation.
Police Commissioner Romylus Tamtelahitu emphasized that Operation Antik Mahakam 2026 prioritizes both preventive and repressive measures to maintain public order and security (kamtibmas). He also appreciated the discipline of the personnel on the ground and urged the public to proactively report any indications of drug trafficking in their surroundings.
