The Padang City Municipal Water Company (Perumda AM) has officially launched the rehabilitation and reconstruction project for the Gunung Pangilun Water Treatment Plant (IPA). This strategic step was taken to rejuvenate the clean water treatment infrastructure, which has been in operation for nearly seven decades, specifically 69 years.
President Director of Perumda AM Padang, Hendra Pebrizal, explained that the rejuvenation efforts are focused on dismantling and replacing main components in the accelerator section. This process is deemed crucial for improving the reliability of the distribution system and maintaining the quality standards of clean water supplied to customers.
The initial phase of the work is currently focused on removing the tube settler frames, which are vital components in the water filtration and sedimentation process. To date, the technical team on the ground has reportedly successfully dismantled eight of the total 12 tube settler units installed at the facility.
