Astra Group Batam once again enlivened its annual calendar through the Astra Group Sports Week 2026. The event, attended by around 200 participants from nine corporate entities under the Astra umbrella, was officially opened at the Daihatsu Baloi Showroom on Friday (3/7) evening.

Unlike previous years, this time the committee paid great attention to electronic sports (esports). This choice was made in response to the high interest of the younger generation within the company in digital gaming, which has now become one of the main competition branches alongside badminton and billiards.

Chairman of Astra Group Batam, Aria Samudera, explained that the esports contested included three popular categories: Mobile Legends, PlayStation, and Ludo. The selection of these events was deemed highly relevant to the demographics of Astra employees, who are predominantly young people familiar with technology.

The tournament series is scheduled to run for over a month, from July until mid-August 2026. The climax of the event and the announcement of winners are planned to coincide with the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia as a symbol of togetherness.

Branch Manager of Asuransi Astra Buana Batam, Ulung Dzaki, added that this event is not merely a competition to win cash prizes, but a medium to strengthen inter-company communication and solidarity. He hopes this activity will continue to foster a healthy work culture and a spirit of collaboration aligned with Astra's Catur Dharma philosophy.
