A new era in the management of Indonesia's toll road industry has officially begun under the direction of President Prabowo Subianto's administration. Through the Ministry of Public Works, the government is taking more aggressive steps to ensure all Toll Road Enterprises (BUJT) comply with the established Minimum Service Standards (SPM).
This policy is aimed at creating a more disciplined operational environment focused on road user safety and comfort. The government emphasized that meeting technical feasibility criteria is no longer merely advisory, but a mandatory requirement that will be evaluated periodically.
As a supporting instrument for this policy, the government has drawn up a more rigid and binding multi-layered sanction scheme. Toll road operators found neglecting service standards will face severe consequences, ranging from administrative fines to the threat of concession revocation for those proven to be continuously negligent.
This decisive move is expected to serve as a wake-up call for toll road managers to immediately overhaul infrastructure and improve service quality in order to maintain public trust in national public facilities.
