The Pekanbaru Municipal Government is taking strategic steps to re-evaluate the operational regulations for nightlife venues. This decision was made after authorities found that many business operators continue to ignore the operating hour limits set by local regional regulations.
The Head of the Pekanbaru Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Desheriyanto, emphasized that this review was triggered by field monitoring results showing non-compliance with Regional Regulation No. 3 of 2002. The regulation, which is supposed to limit operations until 10:00 PM WIB, has frequently been violated by many business operators who remain open late into the night.
Responding to the gap between regulation and practice in the field, the government deems it necessary to revise the rules to make them more relevant to current dynamics of the entertainment business. Desheriyanto stressed that the evaluation process will prioritize a balance between economic interests, security, and public order for the wider community.
As a form of concrete action, the government has also intensified spot checks at various bustling locations. This monitoring operation involves cross-agency synergy, including personnel from Satpol PP, the military (TNI), police (Polri), and representatives from the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD), to ensure that every business unit possesses valid permits and operates within legal boundaries.
The Pekanbaru Municipal Government has issued a stern warning to all entertainment business owners to comply with the applicable regulations. Although entertainment activities are still permitted as part of the economic pulse, the authorities are committed to tightening supervision to guarantee a conducive and safe environment for the public.
