An intensive 13-day search for two teenagers reported missing in the Mount Bismo area, Wonosobo Regency, finally came to a tragic end. Alifin Nur Rohmat (18) and Yufaidin (15), residents of Krinjing Village, Watumalang District, were found dead on Sunday (12/7/2026).
Head of Emergency Division at the Central Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Muhamad Chomsul, revealed that both victims were found close to each other in a cliff area of Curug Telu, on the southern slope of Mount Bismo. Based on conditions at the scene, the joint SAR team strongly suspects that the two teenagers fell into a 200-meter-deep ravine.
Given the extremely steep and dangerous terrain, the evacuation process was conducted using special procedures with high angle rescue techniques or a rope system with two anchor points. The operation involved various elements of the joint SAR team supported by sniffer dogs to navigate the hard-to-reach forest terrain.
The two victims were previously reported missing since Tuesday (30/6/2026). When leaving home, they said goodbye to play, carrying light supplies consisting of food and a machete. Having been spotted around the Kali Plolok Bridge heading toward the Sidongkal forest, their anxious family members finally reported to authorities after they failed to return home the following day.
After being successfully evacuated from the bottom of the ravine, the bodies of Alifin and Yufaidin were immediately taken to a local hospital for further identification before being handed over to their families for burial.
