SURABAYA - Nahdlatul Ulama University of Surabaya (Unusa) has officially dispatched 604 students to carry out the 2026 Community Service Program (KKN). Embracing the theme of empowerment through health, education, and digital business transformation, these hundreds of students will directly assist urban communities for three weeks.
The KKN participants, coming from 12 interdisciplinary study programs, are spread across five districts, seven sub-districts, and 42 community units (RW) in the Surabaya area. This cross-departmental collaboration is expected to produce varied and comprehensive work programs, ranging from medicine, accounting, and information systems to basic education.
Unusa Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tri Yogi Yuwono, DEA, emphasized that KKN is not just an academic graduation requirement. This dedication program serves as a real platform for students to hone their social sensitivity and apply scientific theories to address various real-world problems faced by the local community.
Echoing this sentiment, Unusa Vice Rector 3, Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, explained that the program was designed in collaboration with the Surabaya City Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA). This partnership aims to ensure that the students' work programs have measurable sustainability and do not stop once the KKN period ends.
One of the key breakthroughs in this KKN implementation is the launch of the TIBA (Titik Baca / Reading Point) Program. Through this innovation from the Unusa Library, local residents can easily access various digital reading materials simply by scanning a QR code. At several feasible strategic locations, students will also establish physical reading corners.
The Chairman of the KKN Committee, Dr. Gilang Nugraha, added that all data and field findings during the activities will be continuously monitored and evaluated. This data will eventually be converted into further research material for lecturers and serve as a basis for refining community service programs in the coming years.
