PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) now positions West Java as a major hub in its national business expansion strategy. The company is moving away from its traditional reputation as a housing finance provider towards a more comprehensive business approach by building integrated ecosystems across various economic sectors.
Regional Office Head of BTN for the West Java Region, Asvianti Handaru, revealed that this transformation is carried out by dividing the penetration focus based on the geographical and economic characteristics of the region. The West Java 1 Area, which covers the Bekasi to Karawang region, focuses on financing the industrial sector, while the West Java 2 Area, which includes Greater Bandung to Cirebon, is directed to support the hotel, restaurant, and cafe (HoReCa) sector.
The integration strategy being pursued is not just limited to loan disbursement. BTN now aims to serve customer needs comprehensively, ranging from financing facilities and daily transaction solutions to business financial management. This step is the bank's response to the tightening competition in banking services that demands digital ecosystem efficiency for customers.
Despite the diversification, BTN continues to maintain its market dominance in the housing sector, particularly in the government's housing loan (KPR) program, which accounts for 90 percent of its total financing. Supported by a base of 2 million customers in West Java, the company is committed to targeting other productive segments, such as MSMEs and the creative economy sector, which hold great potential in the Bandung area.
Data from Bank Indonesia and the Central Statistics Agency ranks BTN in the top five credit distributors in West Java. Moving forward, strengthening banking transactions is expected not only to boost the bank's profitability but also to provide easier financial access for business players, including small and medium industries (SMIs) which serve as the backbone of the regional economy.
