A warm atmosphere filled Kamboja Stadium, Palembang, on Saturday (4/7/2026), as the South Sumatra Indonesian Television Journalists Association (IJTI) Chairman's Cup Mini Soccer Fun Game officially began. The Mayor of Palembang, Ratu Dewa, attended in person to open the event, which serves as a forum for cross-professional gatherings.
In his remarks, Ratu Dewa emphasized that sports activities are an effective instrument to ease communication between the government and the media. According to him, interactions outside the formal workplace are proven to build a more solid and harmonious relationship between both parties.
"Sports serve as an effective bridge to strengthen togetherness. This synergy is not only built at the desk, but also through fun and collaborative activities like this," said Ratu Dewa on the sidelines of the event.
Ratu Dewa expressed high appreciation to the South Sumatra IJTI for the initiative to organize this tournament. He assessed that the role of journalists is crucial in presenting educational and balanced information for the development of Palembang City, meaning the strategic partnership between the government and the press must continue to be nurtured.
The tournament, attended by various journalist communities, including representatives from police, parliamentary, and economic reporting fields, as well as TVRI South Sumatra, also served as an event to strengthen internal media solidarity. Ratu Dewa concluded his message by reminding all participants to uphold sportsmanship on the field, hoping that similar activities could become an annual routine agenda for regional progress.
