The alleged assault incident occurred at a barbershop located on Jalan Trans Sulawesi, Mandiri Village, Tomoni District, East Luwu, on Saturday (11/7) afternoon. The incident, involving a local village head and his younger brother, stemmed from tension over a business partnership that did not go smoothly.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of East Luwu Police, AKP Jody Dharma, confirmed that his party is conducting an intensive investigation into the village head. As a result of the violence, the victim reportedly suffered an open wound on the temple, requiring two medical stitches at the local community health center.
According to police reports, the motive behind this vigilante action was triggered by the perpetrator's disappointment with the victim. The village head felt cheated by the victim regarding the capital investment in the barbershop. The perpetrator claimed that after the capital was provided, the victim did not fulfill their responsibilities and instead disappeared.
In addition to financial issues, the personal relationship between the two parties, who are related, reportedly deteriorated. Head of Public Relations Section of East Luwu Police, Ipda Mustajuddin, added that the perpetrator felt hurt because the victim allegedly defamed the family's reputation, specifically spreading unpleasant narratives regarding the treatment of the perpetrator's parents towards the victim.
Currently, the police are still investigating statements from both parties. This case is expected to serve as an important lesson on resolving business disputes through appropriate legal channels, rather than resorting to physical violence.
