President Prabowo Subianto expressed an optimistic view regarding the economic condition of farmers in Indonesia during his speech at the Peak Commemoration of the 79th National Cooperation Day (Harkopnas) in Jakarta, Sunday (13/7). On this occasion, the Head of State highlighted rising indicators of welfare, which he believes are visible from the phenomenon of an increasing number of farmers who are now able to travel abroad for tourism.
Prabowo emphasized that improving the living standards of farmers, fishermen, and laborers is the main foundation of national economic growth. He stressed that the government is fully committed to ensuring that economic policies are oriented toward the prosperity of the people, shifting the focus of development from being initially centralized in major cities to being more evenly distributed down to the village, sub-district, and regency levels.
This strategy is pursued to make economic capital circulation more dynamic in the regions, so that national wealth can be directly felt by the wider community. The President emphasized that the government's philosophy is to ensure the economy truly trickles down, providing real benefits to all levels of society in remote areas of the country.
Furthermore, the President dismissed narratives suggesting that the government is anti-large corporation. He introduced the concept of 'Indonesia Incorporated', a strategic collaboration framework involving all economic actors from cooperatives, MSMEs, the private sector, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), to regional government-owned enterprises (BUMD). Prabowo believes that by strengthening cooperatives as the pillar of the national economy through the synergy of all elements, Indonesia will be able to achieve stronger economic independence and prosperity.
