Concrete steps toward post-disaster infrastructure recovery in Padang City have officially begun. PT Hutama Karya (Persero), in collaboration with Perumda Air Minum Kota Padang, commenced comprehensive rehabilitation and reconstruction work at the Gunung Pangilun Water Treatment Plant (WTP) on Tuesday (21/7/2026). The primary focus of this emergency response project is the repair of two accelerator units to restore clean water production capacity to optimal levels.
Prior to the start of physical work, the field team completed a technical execution document check. This verification process covered equipment readiness, availability of supporting materials, and occupational safety procedures to ensure all rehabilitation stages adhere to operational standards. This rapid action was taken to accelerate the normalization of clean water distribution to customers in the affected areas.
In executing this emergency project, PT Hutama Karya is actively building cross-agency synergy. Strategic coordination is being carried out with the Ministry of Public Works (PU) through the West Sumatra Provincial Center for Building, Infrastructure, and Area Settlement, which oversees the Cipta Karya Implementation Working Unit (Satker) and the Drinking Water Commitment Making Officer (PPK). Strict supervision also involves Construction Management to guarantee long-term structural reliability.
This vital infrastructure rehabilitation project is targeted for full completion by December 22, 2026. As a precautionary measure during the construction process, the management of Perumda Air Minum Kota Padang advises customers to conserve clean water and independently prepare backup water storage containers to ensure smooth daily activities.
