KAUR – To celebrate the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, State Elementary School (SDN) 116 Kaur, located in Mane District, Kaur Regency, organized a series of sports competitions and traditional games on Tuesday (4/8/2026). This activity was participated in by all students from grade one to grade six, and fully supported by the teaching staff.
The excitement was felt right from the morning when the Principal of SDN 116 Kaur, Ariz Candra, S.Pd., officially opened the event, which began with the raising of the red and white flag and the reading of the Pancasila. A strong sense of nationalism was evident, with the dominant red and white attire worn by all participants, accompanied by cheering chants from representatives of each class.
A number of typical August 17th competitions were held to boost student agility, such as sack races, marble-and-spoon races, tug-of-war, sarong relay, and gobak sodor. Meanwhile, for the lower-grade students, the committee presented a cracker-eating competition and a nail-in-a-bottle game, which were very humorous and drew laughter from the spectators.
The Principal of SDN 116 Kaur, Ariz Candra, explained that this annual event is not just mere entertainment, but an important instrument for character education. Through this competition, students are taught sportsmanship, the importance of teamwork, and a love for the motherland from an early age, so they can be resilient in facing both victory and defeat.
The event, prepared over two weeks by the school committee and teachers, also received extraordinary support from parents and guardians. They not only came to cheer on their children but also voluntarily contributed refreshments and funds to ensure the success of the event.
The festivities concluded with the distribution of trophies, certificates, and attractive gift bags for the competition winners, followed by a group photo session. The school hopes this positive tradition can be maintained every year to strengthen togetherness and unity among the school community.
