The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, officially began his political safari series with Lampung Province as his first destination on Friday (26/6/2026). This strategic move reinforces his active role in national political dynamics while demonstrating a clear commitment to supporting the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
The visit began with Friday congregational prayers, followed by an intensive meeting at the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). On this occasion, Jokowi highlighted the urgency of political solidarity and the importance of synergy among democratic elements to maintain national stability previously established.
In addition to political agendas, the three-day visit includes direct inspections of the people's economic sector. One of the main focus areas is the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) center of Maliosewu in Pringsewu Regency. Through dialogues with business owners, farmers, and youth representatives, Jokowi seeks to ensure that the continuity of economic programs continues to reach the grassroots level in the regions.
To ensure a conducive environment during the visit, security forces from the Pringsewu Police deployed 285 personnel across various activity sites. High public enthusiasm for Jokowi was a key consideration in security planning to ensure all dialogue and inspection events run orderly and smoothly.
Jokowi's presence in Lampung is seen as a strong signal of his remaining post-presidential political influence. Choosing Sumatra as the starting point of the safari underlines his attention to a strategic electoral base as well as an effort to build a collective narrative that Indonesia's current progress is a relay from the development foundations built during his two terms of leadership.
