The cybersecurity industry landscape in Indonesia is undergoing a fundamental transformation alongside the massive adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing technologies. Information and communication technology (ICT) service providers are now required to move away from conventional business models that merely sell software licenses, shifting toward providing more comprehensive integrated security solutions.

Secretary General of the Indonesia Data Center Ecosystem Council (IDCEC), Erick Hadi, emphasized that changes in customer behavior are driven by an urgent need to protect data assets amid escalating cyberattacks. AI implementation has altered corporate defense orientation; from previously being reactive, it has now evolved into a system capable of predicting, detecting, and responding to threats automatically through real-time data analysis.

"Organizations in Indonesia are now required to use AI to counter AI-based threats as well. Customer focus is no longer on standalone security devices, but on proactive defense systems to neutralize disruptions before impacting business operations," Erick explained.

Data migration to cloud infrastructure, which is increasingly popular among corporations, has also expanded the scope of security risks, which in turn triggers massive investment in cyber protection systems. This phenomenon makes the competitive market map increasingly dynamic, involving collaboration between telecommunication operators, data center providers, and cloud service providers that now offer security as a service.

Based on IDCEC projections, the cybersecurity market value in the country is estimated to reach US$ 1.4 billion by 2025 and is predicted to jump to US$ 6.7 billion by 2034 with a CAGR of 19.4%. Future industry growth will rely heavily on the effectiveness of managed security services, cloud infrastructure protection, and commitment to developing national cyber specialist talent.
