The East Java Provincial Government, together with the East Java Provincial Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) and the Tuban Regency Government, are synergizing to increase the capacity of local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This strategic step is realized through organizing a business plan drafting workshop attended by dozens of entrepreneurs in Tuban Regency.
East Java DPRD Commission B Member, Aulia Hany Mustikasari, emphasized that the legislature and executive are fully committed to building a solid MSME ecosystem. This effort is reinforced by East Java Provincial Regulation (Perda) Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Protection and Empowerment of Cooperatives and Small Businesses, which serves as a legal umbrella for the sustainability of public businesses. In addition to regulations, facilitation of halal certification is also being continuously pushed to expand market access for local products.
Representative of the East Java Cooperatives and SMEs Agency, Fance Indrianto Asyarie, highlighted the importance of planning in starting and developing a business. According to him, planning accuracy contributes about 30 percent to the success of a business. With a mature plan, business actors can minimize potential losses amidst dynamic market competition.
On the other hand, the Head of the Tuban Cooperatives, Micro Enterprises, Trade, and Industry Agency (Diskopumdag), Gunadi, appreciated the support from the provincial level. Currently, Tuban has around 157,000 MSME actors who are the driving force of the regional economy and the largest employers of labor. Gunadi reminded of the importance of careful capital management so that businesses do not just follow temporary trends, but are able to survive in the long term.
