The Youth and Sports Department (Dispora) of Riau Province initiated a mass community cleanup (gotong royong) action in the Riau Main Stadium area on Thursday (30/7/2026). This large-scale activity was held as part of the preparations to welcome the 2026 Riau Province Anniversary, while also restoring the aesthetic function of the sports icon in the Land of Lancang Kuning.
Through an official letter issued by the Secretary of Riau Dispora, Nur Hamdi, all youth and sports organizations, as well as working partners, were urged to participate actively. This collaborative step aims to create a clean, organized stadium environment, ready to host various important events celebrating the province's anniversary.
To ensure work efficiency, the committee divided the stadium area into several specific arrangement blocks. Each participating organization is required to bring their own work tools, such as lawnmowers, hoes, and brooms, and be accompanied by field coordinators from Riau Dispora to facilitate communication.
One of the organizations involved in this action is the National Paralympic Committee Indonesia (NPCI) Riau. The Chairman of NPCI Riau, Indra Warman, stated that this active involvement is not just a cleanup action, but a tangible expression of a sense of ownership and community concern for the local public facilities built together.
Through this community cleanup, the Riau Main Stadium is expected to look representative and proud once again. The synergy between the government and community elements is an important social asset for the success of this historic celebration for Riau Province.
