The RI-PNG Territorial Border Security Task Force of Infantry Battalion 645/Gardatama Yudha (Yonif 645/GTY) continues to strengthen its role in the remote areas of Highland Papua. Beyond maintaining security and stability, these TNI soldiers are actively providing healthcare services for residents in Kelila District, Central Mamberamo Regency, as well as Benawa District, Yalimo Regency.
In its implementation, personnel from the Benawa post established close collaboration with the local Community Health Center (Puskesmas) to ensure wider healthcare coverage. Meanwhile, in Kelila District, similar activities were carried out using a proactive door-to-door approach, directly visiting residents' homes in Kelila and Kindok Villages on Saturday (11/07/2026).
Led by the Kelila Post Commander, Second Lieutenant Danang Prasetyo, the medical team navigated remote areas of the villages to provide health check-ups, medical consultations, and vitamin distributions to residents. This initiative targets all levels of society, from children to the elderly, to ensure equal access to basic healthcare services.
Second Lieutenant Danang emphasized that this humanistic approach reflects the TNI's commitment to being a solution to the community's hardships in the assignment area. According to him, direct interaction on residents' porches not only provides medical assistance but also strengthens emotional bonds and trust between the TNI and the people.
The local community responded positively to the availability of these free healthcare services. The warm interactions demonstrated that the persuasive approach applied by the Yonif 645/GTY Task Force successfully built a harmonious atmosphere while supporting better health standards for the people of Papua.
