PT Samator Indo Gas Tbk (Samator) has officially operated its latest digital technology-based industrial gas filling station facility in Batam, Riau Islands. This strategic expansion step was taken to respond to the surging demand for industrial gas supply, which is crucial for the energy transition and the acceleration of various manufacturing sectors in the border region.
Batam was chosen due to its status as one of the drivers of the national economy, acting as a magnet for both foreign and domestic investment. With the presence of this modern filling station, Samator is committed to strengthening the gas supply chain for the electronics industry, shipbuilding, logistics, and high-tech industries that require a continuous and safe energy supply.
This new facility is designed to produce and distribute various vital industrial gas variants. These range from oxygen (O₂), nitrogen (N₂), argon (Ar), and carbon dioxide (CO₂) to specialty products such as hydrogen, mixed gas, forming gas, and specialty gas, which play a crucial role in manufacturing production processes, welding, and the local healthcare sector.
The main advantage of this filling station lies in its integrated automation system, which guarantees precision, operational efficiency, and high safety standards. The President Director of Samator, Rachmat Harsono, revealed that the growth in demand for industrial gas in Batam has increased rapidly by 20-30 percent compared to last year, making the modernization of this facility based on pressure monitoring technology a highly crucial investment.
This expansion effort was welcomed positively by the Batam Indonesia Free Zone Authority (BP Batam) through the Deputy for Investment and Enterprise, Fary Djemy Francis. He emphasized that the reliable availability of industrial gas is a major attraction for investors. With a track record of over a century and a wide distribution network in Indonesia, Samator's move is expected to further strengthen the competitiveness of the national industry while maintaining workplace safety and environmental sustainability through the strict implementation of K3 (Safety, Health, and Environment) procedures.
