MotoGP racer brothers, Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez, have just been awarded the prestigious 'Siete Estrellas del Deporte' (7 Stars of Sport) award for the 2024-2025 period in Madrid, Spain. This prestigious recognition was presented just before the two departed to enjoy their summer vacation on the island of Menorca, Balearic Islands.
The 'Siete Estrellas del Deporte' award is a high tribute to athletes who demonstrate outstanding achievements while making a significant contribution to the development of sports in the Madrid region, where they currently reside. The organizers consider Marc and Alex to be one of the most successful pairs of brothers in the history of world motorcycle racing, thanks to a combination of talent, discipline, hard work, and solid family togetherness at the highest level of competition.
Their track record is indeed impressive. Marc Marquez has accumulated a string of world championship titles in the premier MotoGP class, while his younger brother, Alex Marquez, successfully held the Moto3 world champion title in 2014 and Moto2 in 2019. Marc's mental toughness was also tested once again through his comeback action after a severe injury to continue competing for the top spot in the standings this season.
In addition to the racer duo, this edition of the award was also given to several other outstanding athletes. Among them is Spanish basketball legend, Sergio 'El Chacho' Rodriguez, who now serves as the sports director of Real Madrid. In the women's category, the award was won by Maria Perez, a Paris 2024 Olympic medalist in race walking, and Blanca Hervas, a runner who shone at the World Athletics Indoor Championships.
