The city of Singkawang officially bore witness to the successful holding of the Provincial Community Sports Festival (Forprov) II of the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) West Kalimantan. The event, which officially closed on Sunday (July 12, 2026), served not only as a stage for sports enthusiasts to showcase their abilities, but also as a crucial medium for strengthening ties of friendship among residents from across West Kalimantan.
The Regional Secretary of West Kalimantan Province, Harisson, who also serves as the Chairman of KORMI West Kalimantan, expressed high appreciation to all parties involved. In his remarks at the Singkawang City Regional Guest House, he emphasized that the main essence of community sports is fostering joy and physical fitness, not merely chasing victory. The spirit of togetherness created during the event is seen as an important investment in building the quality of human resources in the region.
Echoing these sentiments, the Singkawang City Government officials and local KORMI administrators expressed their pride in being trusted to host the event. According to them, the success of Forprov II is the fruit of cross-sectoral synergy, starting from the government, military-police (TNI-Polri), healthcare workers, to the support of volunteers and the general public. This event is considered a symbol of unity where every participant is a winner because they actively contributed to popularizing a healthy lifestyle culture.
Pontianak City emerged as the overall champion of this competition with an impressive tally of 68 medals, consisting of 25 gold, 25 silver, and 18 bronze. Second place was secured by the host, Singkawang City, with 59 medals, while Kubu Raya Regency followed in third place with a total of 48 medals. The closing of the event was also enlivened by the awarding of medals to the winners of the Airsoft Brotherhood Unity championship, which was one of the flagship sports disciplines in the festival.
