PT PLN (Persero) Main Distribution Unit (UID) East Java showcased two of its latest digital technology innovations, ASTROLT and IMUN RTU, at the Surabaya Electric Forum 2026. The exhibition, held at the Grand City Convention & Exhibition in Surabaya from July 15 to 18, 2026, served as a platform for PLN to demonstrate its commitment to accelerating digital transformation in the national electricity sector.
One of the technologies that caught significant attention was ASTROLT, an integrated system combining real-time measurement, communication, and data processing functions. This device can update low-voltage network condition data every three seconds from distribution substations, enabling potential field faults to be detected and anticipated much faster.
In addition, PLN introduced IMUN RTU (Remote Terminal Unit). This device is specifically designed to restore the functionality of damaged RTUs and integrate SCADA systems into network points not yet reached by the technology. Consequently, the process of isolating electrical faults can be executed instantly, minimizing outage durations for customers across East Java.
The advantages of this technology also captivated international visitors, including Joseph, an electrical practitioner from the Philippines who noted that ASTROLT has great potential for implementation in his country. Meanwhile, General Manager of PLN UID East Java, Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho, emphasized that these innovations stemmed directly from operational challenges in the field to ensure officer safety and customer comfort.
Through the momentum of the Surabaya Electric Forum 2026, PLN invites academics, industry players, and the general public to engage in direct discussions with innovators at their booth. This step is expected to strengthen cross-sector collaboration to achieve a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable national energy system in the future.
