In the midst of Indonesia's economic growth momentum, which reached 5.11 percent in 2025 with Gross Domestic Product (GDP) touching IDR 23,821.1 trillion, the business world is now faced with a new challenge. The focus of digital transformation is no longer merely adopting cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), but rather how to prove the value of that investment on real and sustainable business performance.
The 2025 Global Workforce Hopes and Fears Survey released by PwC revealed that 69 percent of workers in Indonesia have utilized AI in the past year, with 16 percent of them using Generative AI (GenAI) daily. Interestingly, 96 percent of these daily users experienced a significant boost in productivity. This figure underscores the immense potential of AI, while raising a crucial question: how can this effectiveness be converted into concrete financial and operational gains?
For a long time, the success of information technology (IT) investments has often been measured conventionally through technical metrics such as infrastructure uptime or the speed of resolving issues. However, IT leaders today are required to connect these technical parameters with broader business outcomes, such as minimizing employee downtime and preventing service disruptions that could directly impact customers.
Hanief Bastian, Technical Manager of ManageEngine, explained that the acceleration of AI adoption requires organizations to move beyond the speed of implementation toward the effectiveness of business outcomes. According to him, IT teams need more comprehensive visibility across the entire digital ecosystem to reduce operational complexity and ensure technology investments align with the company's strategic goals.
On the other hand, the complexity of modern IT infrastructure—which combines cloud, on-premises, and hybrid systems—often creates information silos. When employees face application access issues, diagnosing the problem becomes complicated due to limited visibility. This not only burdens IT teams but also has the potential to decrease work productivity and disrupt the overall customer experience.
As a solution, an integrated IT management approach becomes a key factor in integrating fragmented data and processes. With better visibility, the use of AI and automation can be targeted precisely to resolve real operational hurdles. Ultimately, Indonesia's digital competitiveness in the future will no longer be determined by how much technology is adopted, but by how smartly that technology is managed to create sustainable business value.
