The Thailand Grand Prix at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram has been officially designated to open the 2027 MotoGP season from March 5 to 7, 2027. This decision makes Thailand the host of the season opener for three consecutive seasons, following the successful staging of the inaugural races in 2025 and 2026. The renewed trust in Buriram reinforces Southeast Asia's strategic position as a crucial market and a hub of enthusiasm for the rapidly growing global MotoGP fan community.
The 2027 event also holds crucial significance as the debut stage for the implementation of the new technical regulations for the 2027–2031 cycle. Racing fans around the world will witness the debut of a new generation of prototype motorcycles designed to be more competitive and dynamic directly under these new rules.
The Buriram circuit's track record as one of the most favored destinations is backed by the incredible atmosphere created by local fans. In the 2026 season opener, the circuit recorded an attendance record of 228,228 spectators who watched Marco Bezzecchi claim a historic victory for the Aprilia team, cementing Thailand's reputation as one of the major global motorsport hubs.
CEO of MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group, Carmelo Ezpeleta, stated that the partnership with Thailand has yielded outstanding results. He emphasized that the consistently vibrant atmosphere in Buriram makes it the most ideal location to launch this new chapter of technical regulations for the premier class racing.
