The Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPK Ormawa) team from the Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM) of the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) at Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) continues to implement their flagship program titled 'Hamemayu Warasing Desa'. On Saturday (4/7), they held the third cadre training session at the Caturharjo Village Hall, Bantul.
The event was attended by representatives of the Caturharjo Sub-district Government, local health cadres, and Supangat, S.K.M., a representative from the Bantul District Health Office who served as the main speaker. The Kamituwa (community welfare head) of Caturharjo, Agung, highly appreciated the students' initiative, noting their consistency in strengthening human resource competencies at the village level.
The main focus of this training session was enhancing effective health communication skills. Before the material was presented, cadres took a pre-test to map their initial understanding. The keynote speaker then delivered an in-depth presentation on interpersonal communication techniques and strategies for conveying health messages so they are easier for the general public to digest.
Beyond theory, the activity emphasized persuasive practice during field outreach. Cadres enthusiastically engaged in an interactive discussion about communication obstacles they frequently face when interacting directly with residents. The training session concluded with a post-test to evaluate the effectiveness of the material provided.
Through this intensive training, it is hoped that cadres in Caturharjo will gain greater confidence in providing health assistance. Strong communication skills are key to raising public awareness, especially in preventive efforts against Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) within families and the community.
