Police officers from the Banjarbaru City Police have successfully arrested Said Ahmad (26), a man from Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan, for committing fraud by posing as a member of the National Police. The perpetrator was arrested at his parents' residence on Jalan Penghulu Gunung Tinggi, Batulicin Subdistrict, on Wednesday (29/7/2026) at around 21:00 WITA.
The case came to light after the victim, Normarina (33), reported the fraudulent act to the authorities. Ironically, the perpetrator and the victim had been in a romantic relationship for the past six months. The modus operandi used by the perpetrator was to offer a job at the Integrated Police Service Center (SPKT) of the Banjarbaru Police.
The Public Relations Officer of the Banjarbaru Police, Inspector Kardi Gunadi, explained that the victim, deceived by the perpetrator's promises, then handed over a sum of money for various fictitious administrative purposes. The requested fees included uniform money of Rp1.53 million, a medical examination fee of Rp950,000, a booster vaccine fee worth Rp300,000, and a security deposit for the Police Chief of Rp1.5 million.
The victim's suspicion grew when the perpetrator repeatedly postponed the promised meeting with the Police Chief and instead asked for an additional Rp2.7 million under the pretext of clearing the victim's online loan history. Feeling extorted and realizing she had been a victim of fraud, Normarina finally demanded her money back, but the perpetrator was unable to return it, leading to the case being reported.
Based on the police investigation, the total loss suffered by the victim reached Rp5,330,000, all of which was used by the perpetrator for personal gain. In addition, the perpetrator also admitted that this fraud utilizing a fake police identity was not the first time, having previously carried out similar acts in the Banjarbaru and Martapura areas.
