The nation's entertainment scene is once again shrouded in grief. Legendary senior actor Zainal Abidin, better known by his stage name Diding Boneng, reportedly passed away at the age of 76 on Monday (3/8/2026) morning.
The news of the actor's passing was confirmed by Sanggar Perkasa, where Diding dedicated his remaining time to teaching acting to the younger generation. Through an official social media post, the studio expressed its deep sense of loss over the passing of a figure regarded as dedicated and inspiring.
Before drawing his last breath, the actor, born on March 3, 1950, was known to have been battling asthma in recent months and had even undergone intensive hospital treatment. Diding Boneng was widely known for his various iconic roles in the Indonesian film industry, including his appearance in the film "Badarawuhi di Desa Penari".
The family, through his child, Wira, confirmed the sad news and the funeral plans. The deceased is scheduled to be buried at the Menteng Pulo Public Cemetery (TPU) in South Jakarta after the Asr prayer.
