The Indonesian government has officially begun phasing out the class 1, 2, and 3 system in BPJS Kesehatan services. In its place, the government will implement the Standard Inpatient Class (KRIS) to standardize the quality of healthcare facility services for all participants.
Despite the system change, the public is advised not to panic. During this transition period, it is confirmed that the monthly BPJS Kesehatan premium rates have not undergone any adjustments or increases.
Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin explained that the implementation of the KRIS format is targeted to be fully completed within two years. Therefore, the currently applicable payment scheme still refers to the old regulations.
This service standardization policy is outlined in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 59 of 2024 concerning the Third Amendment to Perpres Number 82 of 2018 concerning Health Insurance. Through KRIS, all inpatients will eventually receive ward facilities with similar standards.
During the transition process to the full KRIS system, premium payment provisions still refer to Presidential Regulation Number 63 of 2022, with a payment deadline of no later than the 10th of each month. Meanwhile, late fees will only be charged if the participant accesses inpatient services within 45 days of their membership becoming active again after a period of non-payment.
