Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Prof. Abdul Mu'ti, emphasized that advancements in digital technology will never be able to shift the central role of teachers in the world of education. He referred to the educator profession as a key actor in shaping character and building the nation's civilization that cannot be replaced by machines.
To support this crucial role, the government is fully committed to comprehensively improving the quality of educators. This concrete effort is implemented through welfare improvements, academic qualification upgrades, and competence strengthening so that teachers are ready to face the challenges of modern learning systems.
This statement was delivered by Abdul Mu'ti while speaking at the 8th Indonesian Islamic Community Congress (KUII) held at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta. The Muhammadiyah figure emphasized the importance of synergy between teacher readiness and the wise adoption of technology in the classroom.
In addition to focusing on teacher quality, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is also paying special attention to student character building through the "Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children" program. This movement is designed to instill discipline and a healthy lifestyle from an early age in the younger generation.
The seven habits launched include waking up early, worshiping, exercising, consuming nutritious food, loving to learn, being active in the community, and sleeping earlier. Mu'ti added that these positive habits are essentially an implementation of the universal values of Islamic teachings.
