The Tanjungpinang City Government is exploring strategic steps to address domestic waste issues through the utilization of environmentally friendly technology. This step was realized through a follow-up meeting between the Mayor of Tanjungpinang, H. Lis Darmansyah, and representatives of the Dutch energy company, ODC Energy, to discuss potential cooperation in waste-to-energy processing.
The meeting, which took place in the Mayor's office, was attended by ODC Energy's Managing Business Development, Runa, and the owner of Harvest Waste Amsterdam, Jan Harkema. The delegation's presence aimed to introduce waste-to-energy conversion technology successfully implemented in Amsterdam, while finalizing the implementation plan in Tanjungpinang.
In their presentation, ODC Energy proposed an integrated waste management concept combining the areas of Tanjungpinang City and Bintan Regency. This cross-regional collaboration is considered crucial for the operational capacity of the waste processing facility to run optimally and efficiently.
The Mayor of Tanjungpinang, Lis Darmansyah, welcomed the initiative. He emphasized that urban waste management requires the adoption of modern, non-environmentally damaging technology. Lis also fully supported the idea of regional synergy involving the Bintan Regency Government and BP Batam to achieve a sustainable regional management ecosystem.
As a follow-up to this audience, the Tanjungpinang City Government will soon hold an internal technical meeting. This initial step will include intensive coordination with the Bintan Regency Government and BP Batam to review legal regulations, land readiness, supporting infrastructure needs, and the formulation of investment cooperation schemes.
