The Regency Government of Central Bangka, Bangka Belitung Islands, is currently accelerating strategic steps to realize 100 percent Universal Health Coverage (UHC). This ambitious target is projected to be completed by 2026 to ensure every citizen receives health protection through the National Health Insurance (JKN) Program.
The Head of the Central Bangka Health Office, Zaitun, emphasized that achieving UHC is not just a number, but a vital foundation for the sustainability of medical services in the region. Her office is currently strengthening cross-sector collaboration to ensure that access to basic public health rights is guaranteed equally and with quality.
As of early 2025, data shows that UHC achievement in the region has reached 99.57 percent. However, the local government remains seriously concerned about the active participation rate, which currently stands at 81.58 percent. Increasing this active participation is considered crucial so that the benefits of the JKN program can be felt optimally by all levels of society across various health facilities.
Zaitun added that the JKN Program is the government's primary instrument in providing fair and sustainable health protection. By eliminating economic barriers through this insurance system, it is hoped that the people of Central Bangka will no longer have to feel anxious when they require urgent health services.
