The Bengkayang Regency Government has officially sent off the contingent that will compete in the 2nd West Kalimantan Province Sports Week (Porprov) of the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) 2026. A total of 30 athletes were dispatched to compete in Singkawang City, carrying the mission to bring honor to their region at the provincial-level community sports arena.
The send-off ceremony, led directly by the Vice Regent of Bengkayang, Syamsul Rizal, took place solemnly in the courtyard of the Bengkayang Regent's Office on Friday (3/7). In his remarks, Syamsul emphasized that the selected athletes are regional ambassadors who bear a great responsibility to maintain the dignity of Bengkayang Regency through achievements and professionalism.
"We place high hopes on all athletes and officials. Show a high fighting spirit, discipline, and sportsmanship on the field. Victory is indeed important, but the value of brotherhood and character with integrity is far more primary in this event," Syamsul said while motivating the contingent.
The Head of the Bengkayang Regency Youth and Sports Office, Rudi Hartono, explained that the 30 athletes had gone through a series of intensive training processes. They are scheduled to compete in two sports parent organizations (Inorga), namely Kerispatih and Pertina.
Rudi added that this participation is a concrete manifestation of the local government's commitment to supporting the development of community sports. Through this Porprov event, it is hoped that outstanding athletes will emerge to continue bringing honor to Bengkayang, while also motivating the wider community to become more actively involved in sports activities for health and mutual fitness.
