The Solo Entrepreneur Community (SOLEC) facilitated a business matching meeting between local Solo entrepreneurs and several prospective buyers from Malaysia on Saturday (25/7/2026). This strategic step is expected to serve as an entry point for the region's flagship products to penetrate the international market, particularly in the Southeast Asian region.
The important meeting was attended directly by the Chairman of SOLEC, Joko Sutrisno, along with other board members including Gunawan M. Nizar, Ajie Atmoprawiro, and Maliyana Wijayanti. Meanwhile, the Malaysian delegation was represented by Syad, Khir, and Azman, who came to map out potentially mutually beneficial trade cooperation.
The representative of the Malaysian buyers, Syad, revealed that consumer interest in his country for commodities from Indonesia is very high. However, long distribution chains often make product prices excessively expensive by the time they arrive in Malaysia. Therefore, this direct meeting is considered an effective step to cut distribution channels for more competitive prices.
During the agenda, Solo Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from various sectors such as batik fashion, handicrafts (crafts), culinary, and herbal products had the opportunity to promote their products. One of the local artisans, Yani, whose craft products have already penetrated the Japanese and French markets, expressed high hopes that her distribution network could now expand to Malaysia.
Vice Chairman of SOLEC, Gunawan Apri, emphasized that the export market potential to Malaysia remains wide open. He urged local businesses to capitalize on this momentum so their products can scale up to the global stage. Echoing this, SOLEC Chairman Joko Sutrisno ensured there would be concrete follow-ups after this meeting to realize this export cooperation sustainably.
