A land fire broke out in the Gunung Landak area, Blok Desa, RT 001 RW 001, Jatisawit Village, Kasokandel Subdistrict, Majalengka Regency on Wednesday (22/7) evening. Thanks to the prompt response of joint authorities and local residents, the flames were successfully contained before spreading to residential areas.
The fire incident, reported to have occurred around 20:00 WIB, was allegedly triggered by the burning of plantation land. Strong winds and dry vegetation conditions caused the fire to spread rapidly to the surrounding area, sparking concern among local residents.
Responding to the emergency, the Babinsa (village supervisory officer) of Jatisawit Village from Koramil 1716/Dawuan, Sergeant Second Class (Serda) Syaiful, immediately moved quickly to coordinate with higher command and elements of Muspika (Sub-district Leadership Forum). Extinguishing efforts were then carried out collaboratively, involving Satpol PP (Civil Service Police Unit) personnel from Kasokandel Subdistrict, village officials, and the local community.
The Head of Jatisawit Village, Adik Kriswanto, along with representatives from Satpol PP, directly monitored the efforts to isolate the fire on the ground. After battling the flames for about two hours, the joint team finally succeeded in completely extinguishing the fire at 22:00 WIB.
Fortunately, this incident caused no casualties or injuries, and no material losses were reported. Following the incident, Serda Syaiful once again reminded the public not to clear or clean land by burning it, especially during the dry season, as it is highly prone to triggering larger fires and endangering the environment.
