The South Sulawesi Provincial Government, together with the PKK Mobilization Team, officially launched a simultaneous Multiple Micronutrient Supplement (MMS) Consumption Movement. This strategic step targets 54,000 pregnant women across South Sulawesi as a concrete effort to curb stunting rates while enhancing maternal and fetal health quality.

The event, held on Thursday (9/7), coincided with the commemoration of the 54th PKK Unity of Action Day and the 46th Dekranas Day. In addition to being a preventive health action, the program successfully broke a record from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) thanks to massive participation involving 302 locations spread down to the village and posyandu (community health post) levels.

The peak event, centered at the Claro Hotel Makassar, was attended by several key figures, including the Central TP PKK General Chairwoman Tri Tito Karnavian and South Sulawesi TP PKK Chairwoman Naoemi Octarina Sulaiman. Symbolically, 100 pregnant women took the supplements to mark the launch of a massive nutritional education campaign for the wider community.

Head of the South Sulawesi Provincial Health Office, Dr. Evi Mustikawati, emphasized that this movement is a long-term investment in human resource development in South Sulawesi. According to her, meeting micronutrient needs during pregnancy is the primary foundation for raising an intelligent, healthy, and highly competitive generation.

The successful implementation of this movement was made possible by cross-sectoral collaboration involving regency/city governments, medical personnel, the Indonesian Midwives Association, and Posyandu cadres across all corners of the region. The Provincial Government hopes this ongoing synergy will foster collective public awareness of the importance of nutritional fulfillment as a crucial step toward Golden Indonesia 2045.
