Strategic steps to achieve national energy security now rely on a just energy transition. Responding to this challenge, Member of the National Energy Council (DEN), Prof. Dr. Ir. Johni Jonatan Numberi, emphasized that this achievement demands strong synergy between appropriate regulations, technological readiness, and active collaboration from all stakeholders.

Prof. Johni made this statement during a public lecture titled "Just Energy Transition: Bridging Policy, Technology, and Social Justice" held at the Multipurpose Building of Samudra University (Unsam) on Wednesday (23/7). The academic event, attended by the university community, was moderated directly by the Chairman of the Unsam Senate, Dr. Ir. Muhammad Amin.

The Rector of Unsam, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hamdani, also underlined that current global geopolitical dynamics exert great pressure on world energy security. In response to this situation, the government's steps to accelerate the transition to clean and low-emission energy are considered highly crucial. However, he warned that this process cannot happen instantly and requires technological readiness and competent human resources.

In his presentation, Prof. Johni explained that Government Regulation (PP) Number 40 of 2025 on National Energy Policy is now the main compass in reducing carbon emissions. This policy focuses on the development of new and renewable energy (NRE) and the utilization of gas as a transitional bridge toward the Net Zero Emission target by 2060.

Specifically, the DEN representative highlighted Aceh Province, which possesses abundant renewable energy wealth, ranging from solar, hydro, wind, to biomass potential. According to him, this great potential could drive regional energy security while supporting the national energy mix target, if backed by targeted investments and cross-sector research.

As a concrete step in the academic environment, DEN encourages Unsam to pioneer campus energy independence through the construction of Solar Power Plants (PLTS). The presence of this installation is expected not only to function as an independent power source for the campus but also to become a living laboratory to enhance students' competence in creating future energy innovations.
