A total of more than 100 business players involved in the global semiconductor supply chain recently conducted an in-depth review of the investment climate in the Sonadezi Chau Duc Industrial Park, Vietnam. This delegation consists of strategic partners of global technology giants, including NVIDIA, Starlink, and Tesla, who specialize in server manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and cutting-edge electronic components.
The survey activity, initiated by the Taiwan Economic Investment Agency and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), aims to map out the potential expansion of operations in Vietnam's strategic sectors. This step aligns with the ambitions of the Vietnamese government, which has established digital innovation and semiconductor industry development as key pillars of national economic transformation towards 2030 and beyond.
Bui Minh Tri, Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing Zones and Industrial Parks, emphasized that the government is fully committed to providing a modern supporting ecosystem. His office is currently finalizing various new legal frameworks, including updates to the High-Tech Law and competitive tax incentives, such as a 10% corporate income tax rate and tax exemptions for research and development expenses for technology investors.
In addition to fiscal ease, local authorities also offer easy access to skilled labor, including the provision of long-term visa facilities and housing support for foreign semiconductor engineers. The Electronic Tripod Vietnam project, with an investment value reaching 450 million USD, serves as a tangible testament to investor confidence in the infrastructure excellence and pro-investment policies being built by Vietnam.
Despite receiving a positive response, industry players still noted the need for improvements in supporting infrastructure, such as the stability of electricity and water supply, and more efficient logistics integration. The Vietnamese government expressed its readiness to continue simplifying bureaucratic procedures and customs administration as a form of real commitment to positioning itself as a vital link in the sustainable global semiconductor supply chain.
