The Pesantren Baru Sugar Mill (PG), managed by PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara (SGN), received a visit from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) team on Wednesday (1/7/2026). This visit is a follow-up to a strategic collaboration established since April 2025, with a primary focus on updating national sugar industry technology.
General Manager of PG Pesantren Baru, Sugondo, explained that the presence of the research team focused on thoroughly evaluating the production process of Refined Crystal Sugar (GKR). This technical study includes mapping the potential of processing technology to align production output with the evolving dynamics of market demand.
During the review, the expert team conducted strict inspections regarding the quality of the final product, energy efficiency optimization in processing machinery, and compliance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). This step was taken to ensure that the production process is not only effective but also meets competitive quality standards at both domestic and global levels.
Through this partnership, PG Pesantren Baru is optimistic about generating innovations capable of enhancing overall process efficiency. The synergy between the research community and the industrial sector is expected to serve as a catalyst for food self-sufficiency, particularly in achieving highly competitive national sugar self-sufficiency.
