The Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Barito Utara Regency highly appreciated the rising public enthusiasm for sports. This is evident from the high participation of citizens in a mass gymnastics event held at the Tiara Batara Open Arena in Muara Teweh.
The Chairman of Commission III of the Barito Utara DPRD, Dr. H. Tajeri, SE, MM, SH, MH, stated that this joint sports activity is not only beneficial for physical health but also serves as a strategic medium to strengthen relations between the government, the legislature, and the community. This event was organized to commemorate the 76th Anniversary of Barito Utara Regency and to welcome the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
In addition to the mass gymnastics and a fun bike ride (gowes), the series of events also marked the official opening of the 2026 Regent's Cup Futsal Tournament by the Regent of Barito Utara, H. Shalahuddin. Tajeri hopes that this tournament can serve as a platform for nurturing local young athletes so they can achieve success while avoiding negative social influences.
The legislator from the Gerindra Party also encouraged similar sports and community activities to be consistently scheduled in the future. This way, a healthy lifestyle culture and the nurturing of sports talent in Barito Utara can be sustained in the long term.
