The unilateral use of public facilities for business purposes has once again drawn sharp criticism in Bogor City. This time, Aroem Restaurant is alleged to be utilizing the public road shoulder in front of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) office of Bogor City as a valet parking service area without obtaining an official permit from the local government.
This utilization of public space for unilateral commercial gain has triggered a strong reaction from the Bogor City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD). The Chairman of Commission II of the Bogor City DPRD, Achmad Rifki Alaydrus, emphasized that all business activities using public facilities must comply with applicable licensing regulations.
"No party should gain economic profit by using public facilities or specific spaces without a clear legal basis," said Achmad Rifki.
He urged the relevant government agencies to immediately conduct field inspections to verify the operational legality of the parking service. If proven to be in violation of regulations, objective and non-discriminatory enforcement actions must be taken immediately to maintain public order.
To follow up on this issue, Commission II of the Bogor City DPRD plans to summon the relevant regional government agencies in the near future. This summons aims to request a thorough clarification regarding the operational permits of the culinary business. Severe sanctions await if the management is proven to have ignored local regulations.
Achmad Rifki also reminded business actors in Bogor City to always respect the public's rights to public spaces. Compliance with legal regulations is considered the main key to creating a conducive, fair, and orderly business climate in the Rain City.
