The alleged corruption case involving the Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) has now come under sharp scrutiny. The public official is suspected of being involved in an extortion scheme targeting 914 members of the Village Unit Cooperative (KUD) within his jurisdiction.
According to circulating information, this extortion practice was carried out under the guise of administrative processing for forest land release. Members of the KUD reportedly felt pressured to hand over a sum of money so that the legal status of their land could be promptly processed by the local government.
