Eight students from the Regular 3rd Batch of the Community Service Program (KKN) of the Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie Institute of Technology (ITH) have officially introduced seven flagship technology-based work programs in Lompo Riaja Sub-district, Barru Regency. The launch of these innovative programs was presented during a Work Program Seminar held at the Lompo Riaja Sub-district Hall on Friday (July 31, 2026), attended by village officials, community leaders, youth, and local Posyandu (integrated health post) cadres.
The students, coming from various study programs—ranging from Computer Science and Information Systems to Food Technology—designed these programs under the guidance of Ardi Manggala Putra, STP., M.Si. As the Field Advisor (DPL), Ardi emphasized that all programs during the 40-day KKN period are oriented towards addressing the real needs of the community through active collaboration and concrete, impactful contributions.
In the field of administrative services, the students launched the Integrated District Information System, abbreviated as SIKAT. This program initiates the creation of an official web portal for Lompo Riaja Sub-district, which serves a dual function as a public administration information center, a local news dissemination hub, and a platform to promote local tourism potential and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products.
The education sector is also a primary target for this digitalization. For students of SMP Negeri 10 Barru (State Junior High School 10 Barru), the RAKIT program (Active Space for Science and Technology Creation) was introduced to teach the basics of robotics and programming. Meanwhile, at SMA Negeri 5 Barru (State Senior High School 5 Barru), the students initiated the NALAR movement (AI Navigation for Literacy and Learning) to guide students in using artificial intelligence wisely and critically. Additionally, an integrated digital attendance system was introduced through the SIDAK program, along with Figma-based graphic design training through the KREAFI program.
Not only targeting pure information technology, the ITH students also paid attention to health and creative economy aspects. Through the CERIA program, elementary school children were educated on the importance of choosing healthy snacks and interactive handwashing habits. Meanwhile, to strengthen economic independence, the KREASI HP program was introduced to train MSME actors and high school students in creating and managing marketing websites using only smartphones.
This initiative received high appreciation from the local sub-district government. Representing the sub-district, Jamaluddin expressed his hope that this transfer of technological knowledge could continue across various sectors of society. Echoing this, the Babinsa (Village Supervisory Officer) of Lompo Riaja, Abdul Razak, stressed the importance of sustainable synergy, including collaboration with KKN students from other universities. As a starting step for short-term partnership, the ITH students were immediately invited to document and produce digital content to enliven the upcoming Scout Day and the 81st Independence Day of Indonesia celebrations in August.
