In an effort to strengthen human resource capacity in the high-tech sector, the Government of Vietnam has officially enacted Decree No. 179/2026/ND-CP. This policy provides scholarship support for students enrolled in 111 training programs across 15 groups of basic sciences, major engineering, and strategic technologies nationwide.
The amount of educational financial assistance disbursed varies from 3.7 to 5.5 million VND per month for undergraduate degrees, increasing to 5.5 to 8.4 million VND per month for master's and doctoral students. This step follows up on the action plan of the Ministry of Education and Training to standardize and advance the quality of higher education aligned with future industry needs through 2045.
As a tangible commitment, various higher education institutions in Vietnam are also initiating strategic collaborations with the industrial sector. This initiative aims to provide tuition relief and expand career pathways for talented students, making engineering and technology fields a top choice for the younger generation.
To provide a deeper understanding of scholarship policies and career prospects in this sector, Saigon Giai Phong newspaper will hold an online discussion titled "The Appeal of Strategic Engineering and Technology Sectors" on July 11, 2026. The event will feature academic experts and education practitioners from prestigious universities across Vietnam to thoroughly explore the challenges and opportunities in the technology field.
In addition to focusing on domestic development, the Vietnamese government continues to strengthen international cooperation, including with the United States, to accelerate digital transformation and technological innovation.
