Padang Municipal Water Company (Perumda Air Minum Kota Padang) has officially commenced the repair project for the accelerator structure at the Gunung Pangilun Water Treatment Plant (WTP) on Tuesday (21/7/2026). This rehabilitation step was taken to restore raw water treatment performance post-disaster while improving the quality of clean water services for customers in Padang City.

President Director of Perumda Air Minum Kota Padang, Hendra Pebrizal, explained that repairing this accelerator system is a crucial step. This unit integrates three vital raw water treatment processes—namely coagulation, flocculation, and sedimentation—so that initially turbid water can be filtered to become clear and fit for consumption before being distributed to residents' homes.

The rehabilitation project, handled by PT Hutama Karya, is estimated to take about four weeks. Nevertheless, the management of Perumda Air Minum is committed to conducting strict supervision in the field so that the process can be expedited from the initial schedule without neglecting construction quality aspects.

During the repair period, the supply of clean water to several areas in Padang is projected to experience disruptions with varying levels of impact. Areas such as GOR, S. Parman, Sawahan, Aur Duri, Lubuk Lintah, Kalumbuk, and Batang Arau will still receive water flow during the day but with weakened pressure.

Conversely, the areas of Jati Adabiah, Ampang, Belanti, Nipah, Parak Gadang, and Sisingamangaraja are expected to only receive water supply at night. Meanwhile, for the Purus, Pancasila, Rohana Kudus, Pasopati, and Jondul Rawang areas, the water flow could potentially be completely shut down both day and night during the repair process.

As a precautionary measure, Perumda Air Minum Padang is preparing a fleet of water tank trucks to distribute clean water for free to customers affected by total outages. Residents who need assistance are advised to immediately report via the official Call Center at 150030 or send a direct message to the agency's official Instagram account for quick handling.
