President Prabowo Subianto officially attended the closing of the National Congress (Munas) of Alim Ulama and the Grand Conference (Konbes) of Nahdlatul Ulama held at IAI Syaichona Mohammad Cholil, Bangkalan Regency, East Java, on Tuesday (23/6/2026). The presence of the head of state in the highest forum of the religious organization became a momentum to show appreciation for the real contribution of Nahdliyin in national life.
In his speech, the President highlighted the high involvement of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) cadres in the current government structure. He specifically mentioned the names of ministers in the Red and White Cabinet who have backgrounds in the organization, such as Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid, and Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifatul, who also serves as General Chairwoman of PP Muslimat NU.
Prabowo assessed that the existence of NU cadres, evenly distributed across various lines of government and political parties, is proof of the success of a consistent regeneration system. According to him, NU's ability to place its cadres across the political spectrum shows how mature the political education process within the organization is.
Closing his remarks on an appreciative note, the President praised the organization's resilience in navigating national political dynamics. He even joked that NU's political prowess deserves to be an example for others, while emphasizing that the organization always plays an active role in every strategic momentum in Indonesia.
