Kuala Kurun witnessed the vibrant celebration of the 24th Anniversary of Gunung Mas Regency on Saturday (6/20/2026). Hundreds of residents, ranging from students and Civil Servants (ASN) to sports communities, turned out in large numbers to participate in the 5K Fun Run organized by the local Education, Youth, and Sports Department (Disdikpora) in collaboration with the GM Run Community.
Regent of Gunung Mas, Jaya Samaya Monong, officially flagged off the participants gathered at the starting line in the city center. In his remarks, he expressed appreciation for the high enthusiasm of the residents. According to him, the public's active participation reflects a collective awareness of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle amidst the dynamics of regional development.
More than just physical activity, the Regent emphasized that the 5K Fun Run serves as a social glue. The presence of various community elements in the same location is considered a vital asset in fostering harmony and the spirit of mutual cooperation required to accelerate the progress of Gunung Mas Regency in the future.
The economic impact of the event did not escape attention either. Regent Jaya revealed that the crowd served as a catalyst for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to market their products. The circulation of money during the event is expected to make a tangible contribution to the welfare of the local community.
Committee Chairman Aprianto added that this event symbolizes a collective step toward a better future. The series of celebrations did not stop at the finish line, but was also complemented by a joint aerobics session, musical entertainment, and door prize giveaways, further adding to the warm atmosphere.
Also present at the event were Vice Regent of Gunung Mas, Efrensia L.P. Umbing, Regional Secretary Richard, and members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), who mingled with the public until the end of the event.
