The Pekalongan Regency Government received a working visit from the Sleman Regency Government at Kajen Regional Hospital (RSUD Kajen) on Tuesday (7/7/2026). This meeting served as a platform to exchange insights regarding the management of the advanced healthcare referral system and the implementation of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program, which the visiting delegation deemed effective.
Acting Regent of Pekalongan, Sukirman, directly welcomed the delegation led by the Regent of Sleman, Harda Kiswaya. Sukirman emphasized that inter-regional synergy is crucial in strengthening public services. He encouraged the Pekalongan Regency Health Office to present efficient budget management strategies, ensuring that the community receives optimal service without placing an excessive burden on the regional budget.
During the discussion, Sukirman also touched on the sustainability of the ID-card-based healthcare service program, which was pioneered during the leadership of the inactive Regent, Fadia Arafiq. Despite policy adjustments from the central government regarding UHC, he assured that access to healthcare services for the public remains a top priority. In fact, he targets broader health access to run stably again by next November.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Sleman, Harda Kiswaya, stated that this visit was a strategic step to learn from Pekalongan Regency's success in integrating the referral system with BPJS Kesehatan. According to him, amidst budget constraints, local governments must be more creative in managing health insurance so that the benefits are directly felt by the community.
Harda hopes that through this benchmarking study, the Sleman Regency Government can adopt a transparent and efficient referral governance model, similar to the one implemented in Pekalongan Regency. This meeting is expected to strengthen inter-regional cooperation in realizing more inclusive health coverage for the residents of Sleman in the future.
