The Banten Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) issued an official statement to dispel public concerns regarding the volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau. Head of BPBD Banten, Lutfi Mujahidin, emphasized that coastal tourist areas such as Anyer Beach, Carita Beach, and Tanjung Lesung are currently safe for tourists to visit.
Lutfi explained that the eruptions occurring at Mount Anak Krakatau remain on a small scale and are confined to the immediate vicinity of the volcano body. Given the safe distance of more than 40 kilometers from the beaches, he assured that the activity has no significant impact on the safety of visitors in the tourist areas.
Furthermore, disaster authorities maintain a restricted exclusion zone within a 3-kilometer radius from the eruption center, which is open sea and neither a residential area nor a tourist spot. Lutfi urged the public to remain calm and not be misled by inaccurate information regarding an escalation of the eruption.
During the school holiday period running through the middle of the month, the public is encouraged to proceed with their vacation plans. Nevertheless, the BPBD emphasizes the importance of staying vigilant and always following official guidance from relevant agencies to ensure tourism activities run comfortably and safely.
