Mount Ili Lewotolok, located in East Nusa Tenggara, has once again shown an increase in volcanic activity. According to a report from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), an eruption was recorded on Tuesday (7/7/2026) at 21:52 WITA.
The eruption was recorded by a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 40 millimeters and a duration of 79 seconds. Although the eruption was not visually observed, seismic data indicates quite intense activity frequency within the last 24 hours.
To date, the status of Mount Ili Lewotolok remains at Level II (Alert). Records from MAGMA Indonesia show significant seismic activity, including 170 eruption earthquakes, one avalanche earthquake, and 137 gust earthquakes throughout that day.
Responding to this situation, geological authorities have issued a strict advisory for local residents, hikers, and tourists. All activities within a 2-kilometer radius of the eruption center are strictly prohibited to ensure safety from volcanic hazards.
Data from MAGMA Indonesia notes that throughout 2026, thousands of eruptions have occurred across various active volcanoes in Indonesia. Up to early July, Mount Ili Lewotolok has recorded 45 eruptions, making it one of the volcanoes closely monitored by authorities.
